James "KuuKuuSon" Kavanaugh Jr. is the author of the R.A.H.C. Guide, printer of the Declassified newsletter and a contributor to the G.I. Joe Collectors Club and the Declassified Booth.

While KuuKuuSon is a member of many online G.I. Joe forums, he is more known for his "in person" approach to the community, co-founding two Ohio area collectors clubs and a regular attendee at the International Convention. A collector of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero action figures since their debut in 1982, KuuKuuSons paused in 1990 to pursue other avenues only to be drawn back in by his late discovery of the then cancelled Marvel Comic series in 1996; a move which inevitably led to his "no turning back" full-on collecting point in 2002.

KuuKuuSon utilized his graphic design skills produce a supplemental fullback card for the Collectors Club renewal figures that are given away free at conventions as well as design the official 2007 exclusive Sigma Six Red Ninja file card. It has also been stated that he put G.I. Joe costuming on the map. KuuKuuSon also collects Transformers Comics, Starscreams, World of Springfield and Masters of the Universe.

James is traveling from Dayton, OH U.S.A. to promote his new book R.A.H.C. A Guide to Second Generation O-Ring G.I. Joe Action Figures.

Hollywood Reporter have an update on the Hasbro Inc Vs ASUS lawsuit that was recently filed in LA regarding ASUS upcoming Laptop / Tablet hybrid. Hasbro started taking legal action last month against Asus Computer International on the grounds that ASUS computer threatens to "undermine the decades of time and millions of dollars" that Hasbro has invested, including on the Optimus Prime character. They quote the New York Times in their statement which once stated that [Optimus Prime was the] "toughest robot in the nerd universe," as well as it's licensed Transformers Prime TV series.. This has now prompted ASUS to response saying that no one will confuse a computer with a toy like. Their full statement was:

"Although Hasbro refuses to disclose what the merchandise is that is to be sold in March 2012, it most likely will be more toys and games like the classification under which it was filed—again creating no actual confusion with ASUS tablet computers. Hasbro’s claim that consumers are growing increasingly confused with each day is false and unsubstantiated. Further, a cursory glance at the website advertising by ASUS and Hasbro evidences the different and non-confusing use by ASUS of the word “Transformer” when used to describe tablet computers, versus Hasbro’s Transformers mark used to sell robot toys."

This is not the first time that Hasbro have caused legal waves:

In 2008, Hasbro sued two Indian brothers who introduced a Facebook application, Scrabulous, which let its users play an online simulation of the popular board game Scrabble.

In 2010, Hasbro sent a cease-and-desist letter to the Senate campaign of Sharon Angle, saying the candidate never received permission to use the rights to Monopoly for its "Harry Reid Amnesty Game" website.

Last month, Hasbro sent cease-and-desist letters to a Swedish-based website called PonyArchives.org, which catered to adult male fans of the 1980s TV show, My Little Pony. The fierce IP protection drew a strong rebuke from the leader of website, who wrote, "Today we learned that Hasbro, are no real bros. They are indeed proper w#$%ers."

Some of you may have missed the launch of Version 9 of Transformers At The Moon, some 3 years after work first started on the new layout, code and features. You can't help but notice the changes, which the three column (holy-grail) layout that is now used, a return to the drop-down horizontal menu and introduction of "focus areas". The first mirrors images that were originally published on TFC Toys weibo page that shows iÂmages of a previously unannounced third-party Hearts of Steel: Starscream figure. Normally MasterMind Creations are the company that fans associate with Hearts of Steel products but this new figure is from D.I. Studio. You can view a copy of some of the images at the bottom of this news story. >

The second story contained iÂmages and information from the TEKMEN weibo page which showed some news images of a Super-Deformed Convoy (Optimus Prime) figure that, despite his proportions, appears to be able to transform, albeit by taking him apart and rebuilding the vehicle mode. The figure comes complete with a trailer, accessories and multiple hands.

The team behind the Perfect Effect line of third party Transformers products, have posted an update on their blog that contains a teaser image of both Lio Convoy (Beast Wars II) and Big Convoy (Beast Wars Neo). Does this means that both of these characters will be seeing a 3rd party release? Most probably. If that happens, then you can expect to see black recolours based on their BWII and BWNeo recoloured figures as well as potentially a Flash and Galva-Leo Convoy version.

Recently we reported a news story regarding allegations regarding factory conditions at a factory in China called Jet Fair that Hasbro used to produce many of their products including Transformers. Well Hasbro issued a press release on the 22nd of December regarding the factory, a copy of which you can view below.

Immediately following some unsubstantiated allegations posted by an outside group regarding working conditions at the Jet Fair factory, Hasbro, together with ICTI, deployed a team to investigate, as we take such claims very seriously. Following an unannounced, nine-hour inspection of the facility this past week, we are satisfied that Jet Fair meets with Hasbro\'s rigorous requirements.

While Hasbro is committed to continual improvement in all facets of corporate social responsibility, including continued ethical product manufacturing at Jet Fair and all factories that produce Hasbro products, the inflammatory allegations made by the NGO in their report were unsubstantiated by our investigation. The latest issue of the Japanese magazine aimed at boys aged between 9 and 13 called ã±ãã±ãã¨ã¼ã¹, pronounced KeroKero Ace, Âwas release today that comes complete with their exclusive green recolour of Transformers EX Collection Movie Starscream. The toy, officially known as Keroscream (Frog Scream)Â features in a Âfour page colour comic story by Naoto Tsushima which details the story behind the birth of the Frog Scream. Natoto Tsushima posted a preview image on his pixiv.net account which we have mirrored at the end of this story.

As well as coming with the toy and the mini-manga, the magazine also contains a \"Custom Sticker Frog Scream Contest\" which uses a sticket that accompanies the magazine. You can enter as many times as you like with the winners receiving autographs as well as an exclusive gold Lucky Draw Megatron.

Nelson, the administrator over on Michael Bay\'s Shoot for the Edit website, has posted some new information on the upcoming Transformers: Dark of the Moon 3D Blu-Ray Edition as well as revealing the initial details of a 7-disc blu-ray box set that will contain all three of the live action films.

The details he announced regarding the 3D Blu-Ray edition of Transformers: Dark of the Moon was that it will be a four-disc set, released on the 31st January 2012 with the disc breakdown being:

Disc 1 - Transformers: DOTM Blu-ray feature film
Disc 2 - Behind the Scenes (the extra that have been missing for every release so far)
Disc 3 - Transformers: DOTM 3D Blu-ray edition
Disc 4 - Transformers: DOTM DVD / Digital Copy

With regards to the 7-disc set, Nelson just gave the release date as Jan 31st, said it would contain all three films (Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Transformers: Dark of the Moon) and that he will be announcing further details on Boxing day, so December 26th 2011.

Hasbro claims that the name of ASUS\' latest tablet, Transformer Prime, is much too similar to its line of Transformers toys

The battle is on: ASUS\' Transformer Prime v.s. Transformers\' Optimus Prime.

Toy maker Hasbro filed a lawsuit against computer manufacturer ASUS last week, claiming that the name of ASUS\' latest tablet, Transformer Prime, is much too similar to its line of Transformers toys.

\"Hasbro continues to aggressively protect its brands and products and the specific actions we are taking today against ASUS underscores yet again Hasbro\'s willingness to pursue companies who misappropriate our intellectual property for their own financial gain,\" said Hasbro.

Hasbro filed the lawsuit last week in Los Angeles federal court, and is seeking damages as well as a temporary injunction to stop ASUS from selling its Transformer Prime tablet.

The situation isn\'t looking good for Hasbro at this point. While ASUS\' Transformer Prime tablet does sound similar to Hasbro\'s leader of the Autobots, Transformer\'s Optimus Prime, the possibility of a child (or anyone) confusing the two is slim. The Transformer Prime doesn\'t convert into a truck, and the Transformer toys don\'t offer the Android operating system with apps and Web-browsing capabilities.

However, the Transformer Prime does attach to a keyboard dock. Does that qualify it as a Transformer?

Â The Transformer Prime features a 10-inch screen, NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 8 MP rear camera with a f/2.4 lens and back-illuminated sensor along with a 1.2 MP front-facing camera, 12-hour battery life, and Android 3.2 Honeycomb mobile operating system. It\'s priced at $499 for 32 GB and $599 for 64 GB.

The Transformers facebook page has posted this week\'s Transformers Prime cast and crew fan Q&A session with Production Coordinator Meredith Rodgers.

Yessie Nieves asks: What are the main tasks you are in charge with as Production Coordinator and how did you get to be part of this awesome project?

MEREDITH RODGERS: My main tasks are overseeing the work of the Production Assistants, implementing the scheduled deadlines per department as provided by my producer and being my Production Managerâs right hand. Some tasks involve design reviews and animation reviews. It\'s up to me to make sure that information is properly dispersed and executed. Animation is so much fun, but get the wrong color on an Autobot and thatâs a big problem! Since Transformers is such a huge franchise we really have to be delicate in designing from the vast lore of the brand. I was very lucky to land this job and for a Transformers G1 fan, itâs awesome!

Michelle Stosez asks: What is the target time frame for each stage of production? Storyboard, VO recording, Editing, PR..etc...? What is the total time frame from pre-production to completion for an entire season?

MEREDITH RODGERS: I can tell you that not all productions have the same time frame. It depends on many different factors to determine the schedule. For Transformers Prime, storyboarding for one episode takes about six weeks. Designs from conception to final art take approximately eight weeks. Records can take up to five hours depending on how many people are recording. Each department also has to do some area of prep which is also figured in and usually several different episodes are overlapping in various stages. Our management team has been in the business for some time now, so I would say that we have a pretty smooth production process.

Cassidy Klassen asks: What were some cool ideas that, for whatever reason, just couldn\'t be used in the show?

MEREDITH RODGERS: Transformers Prime has a nice story arc that does not usually happen in an animated series. But we all love the action too! There has to be a balance of story and action. In some episodes we have to cut some of the action to help the story and some times we find it necessary to cut a line or two to keep the action moving. Both are hard decisions. For example in \"One Shall Rise:Part 2,\" we had to cut quite a few action shots with Optimus Prime fighting Unicron. The action was so cool, but we needed to get to the following scenes with Ratchet and the team joining him in the fight. Maybe the edits will be included as extras on the upcoming DVD!

Cambria Castle asks: What sorts of skills/interests does it take to perform the job of a \"Production Coordinator\"? Is there something special added to the usual list when you work on a show like Transformers with a high quality standard and a serious fan base behind it?

MEREDITH RODGERS: A production coordinator should be someone who has good organizational skills, is able to juggle several different tasks and be a positive motivator. I have a Computer Animation degree which has served pretty useful since Transformers Prime is a CG show. There is definitely some serious thought that goes into each aspect of the production. Transformers Prime goes through many different approval processes. Since the show raises the bar on children\'s animated series, we have to constantly up the ante and push the show towards great storytelling, action packed storyboards, and animation that is out of this world! We need to make sure that Optimus Prime is pleased with our work!

Jocelyn Simmons asks: Are you a [Transformers] fan, and if so, for how long and what brought it on?

MEREDITH RODGERS: I have been a fan of Transformers since the eighties; I grew up watching Transformers G1! I have to admit that what brought it on was the converting sound. I remember sitting in the kitchen in my parents\' old house and I peeked around the corner to see my brother watching it. I was hooked! I hope all of you enjoy the show as much as our crew. We truly enjoy hearing the feedback from the fans.

--Meredith Rodgers is the Production Coordinator on Transformers Prime. In animation, the Production Coordinator assists with the flow and details of the production process from pre-production (writing and design) through post production (editing and sound). As the Production Coordinator, Meredith helps manage the day-to-day running of departments (schedules, assignment lists, project review, etc). Meredith is the soccer mom of Transformers Prime, making sure every episode has what it needs before heading out the door. She loves working with so many different kinds of art (sketches, transformations, color scripts, CG models) to ensure that what Prime artists see in their heads is what fans see on the screen.

Before this, Meredith lived in New York, working as a Production Manager/Coordinator on several animated series for Animation Collective. She also worked as a Design Coordinator at Curious Pictures and painted backgrounds for Clifford\'s Puppy Day\'s at Scholastic Entertainment. Meredith has a degree in Computer Animation from Full Sail University.

Hasbro Factory Jet Fair slammed in damning report concerning working conditions

A Chinese factory called Jet Fair has been slammed in a damning report published by GlobalLabourRights.org. The 34-page PDF file, available to download here, covers conditions at the factory that produced Hasbro products including the Transformers: Prime figures.

The GLR group focus on the factories Transformers output even though it is not an Hasbro owned factory, and suggests that workers at the factory are body searched three times a day to try to stop goods from being smuggled out of the plant.

It is certainly an interesting reading into what is sadly common place still within Chinese factories when it comes to pay and working conditions.
