Good news for those who attend Auto Assembly 2010 and could not obtain a copy of G100 as a limited number are now available from pixel-cel.com.  G100 is a Transformers tale about a \"of small group of valiant Autobot defenders holding out against a mad Decepticon warlord’s army, with little or no chance of victory.\".  The creator Andy Turnbull says  \"Riffing on Frank Miller’s 300 comic series (and film) Matt Marshall and myself came up with a story recasting Thunder Clash as Leonidas, the Spartan king and Skyquake as Xerxes, the emperor of the Persians and made this comic.\".

As well as being a fun read the comic has been made for charity with all profits being donated to Marys Meals which provides food to children all over the world.  As mentioned earlier the comic was previously only available at Auto Assembly 2010 so don\'t miss out and purchase yours today from Pixel-Cel.com

Transformers Prime - Darkness Rising - Part 2 review and image gallery

TransformerToys.co.uk has been updated with a new news story called Transformers Prime - Darkness Rising - Part 2 review and image gallery.

Episode 2 of Transformers Prime, Darkness Rising part 2, begins with a summary of the first episode before jumping back to the Decepticon ship which is hovering over a mountain on Earth.  Starscream has found an large Energon deposit and is stockpiling the Energon.  Megatron isn\'t interested and announces to his fellow Decepticon that he has found \"the blood of Unicron\" AKA Dark Energon.  Starscream lets the watchers know that, if legend is true, Dark Energon can raise the dead and presents the body of CliffJumper to the Decepticon leader to test whether this claim is true.

Meawhile back on Earth Optimus Prime finishes telling the Humans that the Decepticon\'s could be after them and so, for now, the Autobot\'s will protect them.  At this point the alarm rings in the base warning them that Special Agent Fowler has decided to give the Autobot\'s a visit.  Agent Fowler is Earth\'s liaison office to the Autobot\'s.  Prime tells the kids to hide whilst the Agent arrives to remind the Autobot\'s that they are suppose to be in hiding and to confirm that the Decepticon\'s are back.  The Agent tells the Autobots to \"handle this\" or he will.

The scene changes once more as Megatron revives Cliffjumpers fallen body as a Dark Energon infused zombie.  As zombie-jumper destroys some Eradicons Starscream begins to cower as Megatron slices Cliffjumper in two.  The test proved successful and, if he can learn how to control it, Megatron realises that he has an ultimate weapon.  What Megatron doesn\'t realise is that by bringing Cliffjumper back online, the Autobots pick up on his signature and so with hope that their comrade made yet still be functional Optimus Prime, Arcee, Bulkhead and Bumblebee head off through the land-bridge to the source of the signal.

Ratchet is less optimistic and feels that it is just a bug with the human technology they are using within the Autobot base.  The humans remain behind with Ratchet and when the Autobot runs into more bugs with the computers Raf, the youngest child, uses his laptop to fix the computers.  The computers are described as ex-military, and yet they seem to have no security.  Ratchet offers to ground-bridge the Humans to Japan to meet Miko\'s parents, and get them out from under his feet, but they decline.

Meanwhile the other Autobots are on the trail of Cliffjumper\'s signal and soon run into the Eradicons and a full scale battle commences. Realising that his nemesis has arrived, Megatron orders the Decepticons retreat so that he may concentrate on finding a way to control the Dark Energon.  He orders Starscream to blow-up the Energon mines hoping that it will destroy the Autobots as well.  As Starscream looks to carry out his leaders wishes, Arcee spots the body of the fallen Cliffjumper on a platform inside the base but soon realises that this is not the Autobot she new but something else.  As the remains of zombie Cliffjumper falls on top of the Energon crystals Starscream detonates a bomb blowing up the mountain but not before the Autobot\'s can use the ground-bridge to escape back to the base.  Within Autobot base Arcee explains what she saw but starts to feel faint.  It\'s at this point that the Humans realise that there is more to the Autob ot\'s than normal robots.  Ratchet takes a sample of Dark Energon from Arcee who has some on her from when she found Cliffjumper.  Jackson interrupts things pointing out that his parents will notice that he is not back yet and Prime orders the Autobots to take each of the Humans home but to stay with them and guard them.  Bumblee goes with Raf, Bulkhead with the excited Miko and Arcee with Jackson (after Ratchet says he\'s too busy).

The scene shifts once more to Jackson\'s house where he and Arcee start to argue about each other problems before Jack\'s mother turns up.  Jack says he\'s 16 and bought the motorbike 2nd hand and that it needs repairs.

Morning dawns and Arcee revs her engine to wake up Jack saying that they have to head back to the Autobot base.

The scene shifts once again back to the Decepticon ship where, believing he has destroyed the Autobot\'s, Starscream brags to Megatron however the Decepticon Leader points out that they have thought that they have destroyed Optimus before.  Megatron decides to test the Dark Energon upon himself, much to Starscreams panic but before we can see the results, there is yet another shift this time Ratchet\'s lab within the Autobot HQ where he is running tests on the substance he pulled from Arcee (he does not realise that it it Dark Energon).  Some falls loose landing on a piece of equipment in his lab which then turns to life in the form of a small insect like creature similar to Scalpel from Transformers Revenge of the Fallen.  The credits then roll.

All in all this is a good continuation of the Darkness Rising story and progresses both the relationship between the Autobot\'s and the Human\'s as well as the plans of Megatron.  Once again Bulkhead has little screen time, but Ratchet grumpy character gets the chance to be highlighted.  For the Autobot\'s, Arcee continues to be the main character along with Jack Darby and its confirmed for anyone that may have doubted it, that Cliffjumpers appearance was purely as a cameo so fans of his will have to wait until the IDW prequel comic series to see action from him.

Warehammer 40K Ork Trukk custom Orktimus Prime

TransformerToys.co.uk has been updated with a new news story called Warehammer 40K Ork Trukk custom Orktimus Prime.

Thanks to The Great Dsetroyer (Gareth Doe) for pointing me to this amazing Warhammer 40,000 custom Ork Trukk which has been kitbased into Optimus Prime, or Orktimus Prime as the creator calls it, on TableTop Geeks.

\"Orktimus\"Orktimus\"Orktimus\"Orktimus\"Orktimus\"Orktimus

The Orktimus Prime is a pretty amazing mod. How did you get the idea for this or what made you want to do it?
Well… the name kinda sounds right doesn’t it? I’m a big transformers fan… so any truck is a potential Optimus. What sealed the idea was that the kit comes with a trailer joint under the flatbed… which will never see the light of day. It was a sign… \":)\"

How long did it take to put together the whole thing from start to finish?
The building itself didn’t take very long, probably about a month or 2, in between other works. What took a long time however, was getting the courage to sit down and paint it.

What was the hardest part of putting together the Orktimus Prime?
Painting it. I don’t really like painting. And I didn’t want to damage the model with it. But it needed to be completed.

The Orktimus Prime was based on the Ork Trukk, but did you use any additional parts from other models to put this together? If so, what extra pieces did you use?
The only ‘non-GW’ parts are the ball joints, magnets and plastic rod. The joints are from 3rd party Gundam compatible parts (such as Kotobukiya’s M.S.G. Series of parts). The overall conversion scavanged parts from 1.5 ork trukk kits.

Transformers Prime Crew Information

TransformerToys.co.uk has been updated with a new news story called Transformers Prime Crew Information.

Behind every great on-screen character is an equally fascinating team of real-life characters dedicated to making each minute of each episode as engaging as possible. They are the artists, character designers, editors, directors, production crew, producers and writers that work on developing shows for The Hub. And these are some of their roles and stories.

Artists

Stephanie Arnett - Storyboard Revisionist

\"I actually had no idea I could draw until I decided to attend college. By the sixth grade most of the drawing classes at my school had been removed from our curriculum due to budget cut backs…luckily I found out that not only I could draw, but that I could make a living as well!\"

Luke Berliner - Background Painter
\"When I was growing up I did not have a T.V. I used drawing to tell my own stories and travel to far off lands in my imagination. I would have never thought it would turn into a job though! You too can be a great artist, all it takes is practice and dedication but most of all keep it FUN!\"

Brandon McKinney - Storyboard Artist
\"You draw a picture of a character doing something, you\'ve got a cool drawing. You draw another picture of that character a moment later, now you have a STORY. You\'ve just done Sequential Art, one of the most powerful forms of storytelling there is.\"

Sebastian Montes - Storyboard Artist
\"I can clearly remember as a six year-old watching cartoons on TV and thinking how magical it was. Now here I am, an adult making those same cartoons. So if you have a passion and a talent for something, keep working at it and never let the magic fade.\"

Vince Toyama - Background Design Supervisor

\"Whether you are writing a script or designing the artwork for the animation, the entire process is an exercise in using your imagination. For me, it is the best job to be challenged everyday to design the coolest and the most realistic environments for an action adventure cartoon. But to be clever and original is not an easy thing to do for anybody, especially if you let your creative mind get lazy!\"

Christophe Vacher - Color Design & EFX Supervisor
\"I grew up watching sci-fi shows and animation, wondering how I could possibly be an artist in that field some day. With hard work, focus and dedication, my dream eventually came true.\"

Kirk Van Wormer - Storyboard Artist
\"Every day I blow things up, wrestle monsters, unmask villains, solve mysteries and tell tall tales. All this and I get to work with my best friends as well. Not a bad way to make a living.\"

Character Designer

Augusto C. Barranco - Character Designer and Painter
\"Drafting spreadsheets and counting numbers never seemed to be in the cards for me. I thrive on creating new and undiscovered worlds and that\'s why I\'m an artist.\"

Jose Lopez - Character Designer
\"I\'m the character designer working on Transformers: Prime and I get to draw robots at work. One of the things that I love about designing Transformers is that it takes me back to when I was kid and used to draw Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots. Who knew I would do it again as an adult!\"

Director

David Hartman - Supervising Director/Art Director
\"I loved watching cartoons as a kid. Afterwards I would take my toys and act them out to the story the way I would have told it or draw comic book stories with characters I wish were in the cartoon. Now that I am grown up I still love cartoons, I still buy toys and I still draw comic stories. The difference now is that I have made a career telling stories and drawing pictures that I want to see and I want others to see. Animation can be a lot of hard work and dedication but every time one is finished I sit back and watch it with the same eyes I had as a kid and enjoy the story I have helped tell and hope kids today feel the same way I did.\"

Shaunt Nigoghossian - Director
\"I got decent grades in school but I never had a subject that I really loved. I DID love to draw a lot though…on my notebooks, book covers, homework (got in trouble for it many times). After high school I didn’t really know what to do…but I kept drawing…took classes…got better and better and realized I had a gift for storyboarding (which is storytelling with drawings). Now I get to do what I love all day long. You can make a career out of anything you really truly love. If you feel strongly about something and pursue it with all of your energy - you will absolutely achieve it.\"

Editor

Adam Nixon - Animatic Editor
\"When I was a kid I watched Saturday morning cartoons every week, but I never imagined I’d be the one helping to create stories to inspire and entertain the new generation!\"

Producer

Duane Capizzi - Supervising Producer / Writer
\"I grew up on a steady diet of comic books and monster movies. Now, I get to think about superheroes and giant robots at my job all day long! At some jobs, that’s called “daydreaming” and it can get you fired. But I’m a lucky guy because they actually pay me for that! So keep reading those comics, but read your textbooks too â€" writing for animation not only takes a wild imagination, but discipline and craftsmanship if you want to do it well.\"

Jeff Kline - Executive Producer
\"You never know where the germ of a good story is going to come from; absolutely everything you learn in the classroom, and in life, could be fodder.\"

Production Crew

Mathias Dougherty - Production Manager
\"When I was 8, I remember watching a new show that changed my life forever; this show was called Transformers (G1). I knew right then and there I wanted to work in cartoons and maybe one day hopefully be part of such an amazingly cool show. Well, 26 years later and with positive encouragement from my parents, a love for animation, and a determination to do what I set out to do, I AM working for Transformers, Transformers: Prime!\"

Lorena Gallego - Casting Coordinator
\"Having the opportunity to work with extraordinary actors such as the man who brings Optimus Prime to life is one of the most exciting things about my job in casting for animation. Also, I love being able to contribute my own creativity into each story and getting to see those choices come to life when the character speaks\"

Nathan Johnson - Production Assistant
\"If you have a dream, hold onto it tight and believe in it, even when no one else does. When I was a kid I used to play with my Transformers every day and wish that I got to be an Autobot. Now my job is to help create Transformers cartoons. I like to tell everyone that Optimus Prime is my boss! How cool is that?\"

Writers

Mairghread Scott - Writer
\"Writing for animation is 80% hard work, 15% things you learned in school, and 5% crazy awesomeness that leaks out of your brain.\"

Hasbro response to Power Core Combiner Spastic

TransformerToys.co.uk has been updated with a new news story called Hasbro response to Power Core Combiner Spastic .

Seibertron have received a reply from Hasbro US regarding the Power Core Combiner Spastic.  As you may remember we broke news that the Scottish newspaper The Daily Record had picked up on the name of this character and were talking about how the name is often used as an offensive term.  During my report I speculated that the toy would not see a UK release anyway and these thoughts have now been confirmed by Hasbro in the following statement.

\"Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and for the opportunity to respond. The TRANSFORMERS brand intended no offense by use of the name \"SPASTIC\" for one of its products which has not and will not be available via traditional retail channels in Europe, including the the UK. Thank you once again for notifying us about your concern. As a marketer of children’s products, input from parents, families and fans regarding their experiences with our brands is extremely important to us. Our goal is to have all families who enjoy our brands feel good about their purchases and experiences.\"

Daily Record reports backlash over Transformers Power Core Combiner name

TransformerToys.co.uk has been updated with a new news story called Daily Record reports backlash over Transformers Power Core Combiner name.

Scottish Newspaper The Daily Record has posted an article about the backlash caused by the recent announcement of a name of an upcoming Power Core Combiner figure.  The figure called Spastic has caused backlash from UK based fans due to the derogatory and offensive meaning often used with the name that was originally used to describe someone with spastic paralysis.

This isn\'t the first time a Transformers name has caused trouble within the UK. In the past Slapper, Erector and, most thought off, Slag  have all lead to debates.  Hasbro were actually so concerned over the name Slag that they changed the Transformers Animated character from Slag to Snarl just because of the UK market (as confirmed by Derrick J Wyatt at Auto Assembly 2010).

UK fans need not fear that much though, the chances of the figure being released over here is slim anyway.
